Principles are concepts used to organize or assign structural design elements. Again, the way in which these principles are applied affects the expressive content, or message of the work.
The principles are:
concepts,
balance sheet,
part,
rhythm,
accent,
balance,
unity etc.
Graphic Proportion refers to the relative size and dimensions of the various elements in a design. The issue is the relationship between objects, or parts of a whole. This means that it is necessary to discuss the relationship in terms of context or standards used to define the design concept.
Asymmetric balance, also called informal balance, is more complex and difficult to predict. It involves placing objects in a way that will allow different objects visual weight to balance each other around a point of support. This can best be imagined from a predicted literal equilibrium scale that can represent visual “weights” that can be imagined in a two dimensional composition.
Whether the solution is simple or complex, a form of balance can be identified in more successful compositions.
